Problems accessing the journals

Some institutions’ systems may prevent your free member access.

This page lists the known issues and some possible workarounds. If after trying the workarounds you are still experiencing problems, then you can report a problem.

Known issues

  • Firewalls and security programs (software firewalls, network firewalls and ADSL broadband routers).  A number of firewalls will strip some browser information when browsing web pages on the internet.
  • Proxy servers.  If your organisation uses a proxy to improve performance and security, this may block or remove some browser information.
  • Sessions. If you have visited the journal website once already (possibly for a different journal) without completely closing your browser, then a web session may have already been created.  This session may override your free access through BioSciAlliance.

Workarounds

  • Ensure that you have closed all web browser windows and login to BioSciAlliance again (this will close any open sessions that you may have created).
  • Try to access the journals through BioSciAlliance on a different computer and network (e.g. at home).
  • If you are unable to find alternative access, please speak to your IT administrator to establish whether any "browser request headers" are being blocked by your organisation's network. If they do block certain information, then it is unlikely that you can gain free journal access on that network.

Report a problem

If you continue to have problems after trying the workarounds above, please submit a report to BioSciAlliance.

By continuing to the next stage, we will interrogate your system and request that you provide us with some extra details. We will also complete a check to see if your browser/network is compatible.
